I have obviously done other work since my last post but to be quite honest cannot be bothered to post it all so I will just show you what I’m doing at the moment
I took some pictures in Northumbria, while on holiday with my boyfriend (now fiancée) and his family, of the coast, castles and the general area. Above is an A5 graphite drawing of this really beaten up old boat I saw.
I then started looking at artists that paint the same area and the paintings below were create while looking at the artist Helen Stuart. I though that the way she make the sky, sea and sand fade to almost translucent gave her work and elegance and it made me feel really relaxed.
However I wound up not fading the sand as much, instead i used different shades to create a dappled effect that, I feel, gives my pieces a lot of texture.
The pieces above are A4 using watercolour.
And these are A5 with watercolour.
I hope to develop these more and perhaps go on to using impasto acrylic to create a 3 dimensional texture.
thank you for reading this and I hope you will follow this blog, although I can’t promise that I will post often.
